South of Brisbane, the blocks stretch out. Logan's acreage belt runs from the paddocks of Greenbank and New Beith across to the bushland ridges of Cornubia and Mt Cotton, taking in everything from half-acre bush blocks under tall gums to genuine small-farm holdings. Out here, landscape design is less about decorating a backyard and more about organising land.

Acreage rewards that design-first discipline: on a big block, an unplanned decision (a shed in the wrong spot, a driveway that fights the fall) stays wrong for decades.

Designing at acreage scale

The core acreage question is where the garden should stop. We concentrate detail and budget in the zones you live in daily (arrival, entertaining, pool, kitchen garden), then let the design loosen deliberately toward the boundaries, with mown paths, massed natives and retained bush. Everything gets a plan; not everything needs a price tag in year one.

Staging is built in from the start. Our acreage landscape design work maps what to establish first, canopy trees and screening because they take the longest, and what can wait for later years without compromising the whole.

Native screening and long horizons

Privacy and wind are the acreage belt's recurring briefs. We design layered native screening: fast pioneers for cover within a couple of summers, slower canopy for the decades after, understorey to hold it together. Locally suited natives establish without leaning on irrigation forever (more on how we plant them at native garden design), and they keep the birdlife that makes these suburbs feel the way they do.

In the leafy eastern pockets, established homes sit under mature eucalypts in recognised koala country, and we design with that canopy rather than against it. On the semi-rural western side, windbreaks, dams and paddock edges join the plan.

The Design Discovery Consultation is $350 on-site within Brisbane metro; parts of Logan's acreage belt sit beyond that, so a modest travel surcharge may apply, always quoted up front and never sprung on you afterwards.

From there, the design stages run at your pace: concept design for the whole-property masterplan, then detailed drawings when you're ready to price the first stage of work.
