Garden design or landscape design?

People use both terms, and honestly, so do we. If there's a distinction, garden design leans into the planting: the layers, textures, and seasonal rhythm that make a space feel alive. Landscape design zooms out to the whole site: levels, structures, materials, drainage, and how the outdoor rooms connect to the house.

Designed for Brisbane's subtropics

Brisbane rewards gardens that are designed for it and punishes the ones that aren't. Western sun in January will scorch a fernery; a February storm will find every drainage shortcut; and a garden built for Melbourne's climate will sulk here from November to March.

We design with the climate, not against it: canopy first for shade and microclimate, planting layered so the garden cools the house, materials that handle humidity and hard rain, and species chosen for our feast-and-famine rainfall. How our garden design process works

Every garden starts with a Design Discovery Consultation: $350, on-site, within Brisbane. We walk your property together, dig into how you actually live outdoors, and you receive a design brief plus a fee proposal for the next stage. For some homeowners, that consultation is all they need.

From there, Concept Design turns ideas into a resolved plan: layout, zones, palettes, and elevations. Design Development & Detailed Design produces builder-ready construction drawings and specification schedules you can send out for tender. And if you want your designer alongside you through the build, Project Oversight keeps the vision intact from first dig to final planting.

Planting that earns its place

Our planting philosophy is simple: anchor the garden with reliable performers (lomandras, westringias, grevilleas, tuckeroos), then spend the drama where it counts, with bold subtropical accents that give a Brisbane garden its lushness without chaining you to the hose.
