Brisbane's northside rolls out from the city in generations. Closest in, timber Queenslanders and gabled interwar homes sit high on hilly streets. Beyond them sits the post-war belt, low-set homes on generous blocks planted decades ago with frangipanis and mangoes. Further north again, the brick family suburbs of the seventies through nineties run up to bushland reserves, and it all ends at the bay.

Three eras of northside backyards
In the inner character belt, the garden works around the house: high floors, shaded undercrofts, and street frontages that deserve a proper front garden, with rear yards designed to pull daily living down to ground level.
Through the middle ring, post-war homes sit low on blocks more generous than they look, often with fifty-year-old fruit trees and a hills hoist in the middle of the lawn. These gardens usually need structure more than they need more plants: levels resolved, zones defined, the good old trees kept.
Further out, the brick-and-tile family suburbs give us the most room for pools, big entertaining areas and lawns that earn their keep. Many blocks back onto bushland or creek corridors, and the best designs borrow that landscape rather than fencing it out.

Gentle hills, creek lines and summer storms
The northside's terrain is kinder than the inner south's ridges, but it still shapes every design. Most blocks carry a gentle fall, and the area is stitched together by creeks (Kedron Brook, Downfall Creek, Cabbage Tree Creek), so drainage and levels come first, keeping paving, lawn and planting exactly where they belong through a February downpour.
The north is frost-free and generous. Established poincianas, jacarandas and figs set the tone in the older suburbs, and our planting plans work with that canopy: layered, subtropical, matched to how much gardening you honestly want to do.
Suburbs we cover across the northside
In the character belt we work across Wilston, Windsor, Grange, Gordon Park, Alderley and Ashgrove. Through the mid-century middle ring: Kedron, Stafford, Wavell Heights, Chermside West, Nundah, Hendra and Albion. In the family belt further north and west: Everton Park, McDowall, Bridgeman Downs, Aspley, Albany Creek, Eatons Hill, Ferny Grove, Ferny Hills and Mitchelton, and out on the water, Sandgate.
A few northside neighbours have pages of their own: Ascot and Clayfield and Hamilton around the racecourse precinct, and Samford in the valley beyond Ferny Hills. If your suburb sits between the ones named here, we cover it too.

Every project begins with a Design Discovery Consultation: $350, on-site, standard fee right across the northside. We walk your block together, talk budget and priorities honestly, and you receive a design brief plus a fee proposal for concept design.
From there it runs at your pace: concept design to resolve the big moves, then detailed design for builder-ready drawings any contractor can price and build from.
